Yawar urges Centre to establish RIO in Kashmir

General Secretary PDP Youth and MLA, Rafiabad , has demanded establishment of 100 bedded Regional Institute of Ophthalmology (RIO) one each in Jammu and Kashmir saying the present eye treatment facilities in the state are inadequate.

General Secretary PDP Youth and MLA, Rafiabad , has demanded establishment of 100 bedded Regional Institute of Ophthalmology (RIO) one each in Jammu and Kashmir saying the present eye treatment facilities in the state are inadequate. 

"The central government must sanction the RIO for Srinagar , Kashmir without any further delay , for which the state government has already submitted a proposal to the center", Yawar said. 

He said that the Ophthalmology Department of the SMGS Hospital has only three super specialties viz retina , glaucoma and cornea which could not fulfill the required treatment facilities for the eye injury cases witnessed during the last five months of disturbance in Kashmir.
