Youth’s body recovered 37 days after bear attack in central Kashmir’s Kangan

Ganderbal, Jun 9: The body of a youth, who had gone missing after bear attack in forest area of Naranag Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district 37 days ago, was on Wednesday recovered 8 km away in Trangail area.

Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Kangan, Syed Yasir Qadri told Greater Kashmir that the body of youth identified as Javid Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Nabi Mir of Wangath Kangan was missing since May 2 after he along with his two friends were reportedly attacked by a bear in Domail area was found in a stream today.

   

Yasir said that the body was semi decomposed after being in water for many days.

The youth along with his two friends had gone for fishing at Domail when they were attacked by a bear.

Two among them had managed to escape from the spot.

Since then his family, police, Wildlife officials, SDRF, Army and local volunteers from Kangan and nearby areas had been searching for the missing youth and had carried several search operations during the last one month.

Police said his body was found almost eight kilometers from the spot where he had gone missing.

After completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body of the deceased will be handed over to his relatives for last rites, police said.
