DC Leh visits Nubra, assesses damages
Deputy Commissioner Leh, Saugat Biswas today visited Nubra valley to assess the damage caused by heavy rains and mudslides over the past two weeks.
He was accompanied by SDM Nubra, BDO Diskit and Panamik, BMO Diskit and other concerned officers and village representatives.
MLA Nubra, Deldan Namgyal was also present at Yulkham village. Later, DC, who is also CEO of LAHDC Leh, visited Turtuk village.
The assessed damage included 29 houses in Khalsar village, one in Lakjung and two in Yulkham, four in Yulkham village and in six in Kyagar, while in Sumoor, two houses were completely damaged and 40 were filled with debris from mudslides.
At Tsati, villagers submitted a memorandum to DC to carry out restoration work immediately.
The powerhouse in Sumoor is filled with water and mud, as a result, there is no electricity in Sumoor and adjoining areas. The DC directed Exen PDD to look into the matter and to provide electricity as soon as possible.
The DC has instructed deputy registrar Cooperatives and Assistant Director CAPD to provide free ration to those affected by the floods and who have been accommodated in respective village community halls.
