An all party meeting was held here on Wednesday to welcome the decision of the state government to grant divisional status to Ladakh region. The meeting was organised by Ladakh Buddhist Association.
A spokesman of LBA said the meeting was attended by the LBA president Tsewang Thinles, president, Anjuman Imamia, Ashraf Barcha, president, Anjuman Moin ul Islam, Dr. Abdul Qayum, president, Christian Association, David Sonam, president, National Conference Leh, Tsering Angchuk, president, Indian National Congress Leh, Tsering Namgyal, president, Peoples Democratic Party Leh Tashi Gyalson, general secretary, Bharatiya Janata Party Leh Nawang Samstan, vice-presidents LBA, P T Kunzang and Rinchen Namgyal.
“A resolution was passed in which all the stakeholders welcomed granting of divisional status to Ladakh. The administrative set-up as a division should have been granted much before as Ladakh has always been kept under Kashmir division though it has been accepted as a region in Jammu and Kashmir constitutional assembly and it is our legitimate right since Independence, ” the spokesman said.
