Chief Secretary, B VR Subrahmanyam, Sunday visited Kargil and reviewed the progress of various developmental projects and flagships schemes with the district officers in a meeting, here.
The meeting, which was held at Conference Hall Baroo, wasattended by Principal Secretary, Planning Development and MonitoringDepartment, Rohit Kansal, Divisional Commissioner Ladakh, Saugat Biswas, DIGCentral Kashmir Range A K Birdi, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, KargilBaseer ul Haq Choudhary, Superintendent of Police, Kargil, Dr Vinod Kumar,Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Sonam Chosjor, and SuperintendingEngineer PWD, Haji Fida Hussain, among other district officers.
The Chief Secretary reviewed the status of 200-beddedhospital being constructed at Kurbathang. He also received brief on thefunctioning of District Hospital, CHCs, PHCs and NTPHCs.
The Chief Secretary also reviewed the status of Agriculture,Horticulture and Animal and Sheep sectors in the district, besides the statusof Pashmina production and steps being taken to improve it further. He urgedconcerned officers to work towards boosting the production of livestock,poultry, dairy, apricot, vegetables and fodder in the district.
With regard to tourism sector, it was informed that over 1lakh tourists visited the district in 2018 and this year too expectations oftourist arrivals are encouraging.
Subrahmanyam directed the Tourism department to launch asustained publicity campaign about the varied tourism attractions of thedistrict, including trekking routes now available for adventure seekers, sothat tourist arrivals to the district are increased.
The status of implementation of various centrally sponsoredschemes, including PM KISAN, Ayushman Bharat and social security schemes, wasalso reviewed.
The Chief Secretary urged the officers to make concertedefforts to ensure that benefits envisaged under these programmes/schemes reachthe targeted population.
He asked the Agricultural Production department to completethe process of enrolment of all eligible beneficiaries under PM KISAN by 25July.
Later, the Chief Secretary also visited Drass War Memorialand took stock of the arrangements being put in place for the Kargil VijayDiwas being observed on 26 July.
