Founder Imam Khomeni Trust Kargil passes away
Prominent religious scholar and founder of Imam Khomeni Memorial Trust Kargil, Sheikh Mohammad Hussain Zakiri, passed away today at his residence in Kargil after a brief illness.
The entire Kargil market was closed and more than 20,000 people assembled at Hussaini Park Kargil where his Nimaz Jinaza was performed by Chairman Guardian Council Hujatul Islam Wal Muslameen Sheikh Mohammad Mohaqiq.
The deceased scholar was 76 years old and born in a middle class family from Bagh-e-Khomeni. After his basic education, he went to Najaf Asharaf in Iraq for Islamic studies and after returning in 1971 formed a religious organization Anjuman-e-Maun-e-Islam in 1973 which provided basic Islamic education to children and also advocated on issues related to women and their rights.
He was greatly influenced with the 1979 Islamic Revolution of Iran, was instrumental in establishing Muthahry Public School in Kargil which is now a educational organization of 15 branches.
He was the founder of Imam Khomeni Memorial Trust Kargil which was founded in 1989 and later established two theological schools i.e Jamia Imam Khomeni for boys and Jamia Tu Zehra for girls in Kargil.
Besides, Sheikh Hussain Zakiri was a prominent poet and scholarly person having published many books and poetic collections.
CM CONDOLES DEMISE:
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has condoled the demise. In her condolence message, the Chief Minister said Sheikh Mohammad Hussain Zakiri would be remembered long for not only spreading the message of humanism, love, peace and brotherhood but also for his contribution in the socio-economic and educational emancipation of the people of Kargil.
Chairman Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali and Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar have also condoled the demise of Sheikh Mohammad Hussain Zakiri.
Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services & Sports Molvi Imran Raza Ansari has expressed grief and sorrow over the sad demise.
