Three bodies have been recovered so far from Khardung La Pass where an avalanche buried at least ten people early Friday, officials said.
In a statement, an official of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) said the rescue operation is being carried out under Project Himank which pressed into service its men and machinery soon after the avalanche hit the Khardung La Pass around 7 am.
At least ten persons who were aboard a lorry went missing after avalanche hit the area.
An official said that the rescue parties of the police, SDRF, army and GREF are on the spot.
