GOC 15 Corps visits forward areas in Kupwara, reviews operational readiness

Srinagar, Apr 9:  In a reaffirmation of the Army’s commitment to maintaining a robust defensive posture along the Line of Control (LoC), General officer Commanding (GOC) 15 Corps, Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai visited frontline units in the Keran sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday.

The visit aimed to review the counter-infiltration grid and assess operational preparedness in the area.

Lt Gen Ghai interacted with the troops deployed in the area and commended their dedication and perseverance in maintaining a high state of operational readiness despite facing extreme weather conditions and challenging terrain.

During the visit, the GOC 15 Corps stressed the importance of remaining vigilant and proactive to thwart any nefarious designs of infiltrators from across the border.

He also emphasised the need for strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure the safety and security of both the troops and the local populace.

The GOC’s visit comes only three days after an infiltration bid was foiled in the Uri sector.

There have been apprehensions of reports of increased infiltration attempts by terrorist groups as snow has started to melt.

The Army has been maintaining a heightened state of alertness along the LoC to counter any such attempts effectively.
