IED recovered on NHW in Jammu; defused: Police

Jammu, Nov 4: Police Saturday recovered a tiffin box timer based Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on Sidhra-Narwal highway stretch in Jammu.

“After taking into possession, it was safely detonated in a safe area,” said a police spokesperson. He said that “At around 5.30 pm, police received an information that some suspicious object was lying on Sidhra-Narwal highway stretch near a police checkpoint.”

   

A team of police along with Police Component Jammu, dog squad rushed to the spot and upon search of suspicious material, it was found to be a tiffin box timer based IED weighing around two kilograms. “It was taken into possession after successful detonation. A case under relevant sections of law has been registered in the police station and further investigation is going on,” the spokesperson said, in an official statement.
