Land sinking in Ramban; 12 families shifted

Ramban, Apr 25:  Following the subsidence and sinking of a huge chunk of land in Kakrala Morh, Parnote, 5 km from Ramban on the Ramban-Gool road, at least 12 families were shifted to safer places by the district administration Ramban on Thursday evening, an SDRF official said.

The traffic on the Ramban-Gool road was suspended as the road passing through Kakrala Parnore developed cracks late Thursday evening. Electricity in many areas was also snapped.

   

Officials said that following land subsidence in Kikrala Morh on the Ramban-Gool road, all vehicular traffic was suspended.

Nadeem Iqbal Katoch, a reporter for a local TV channel, who lives in the Parnote area of Ramban said, “The land started sinking Thursday evening. This created fear psychosis among the inhabitants.”

On receiving this information, Tehsildar Ramban, Deep Kumar, officers from the district administration along with Police, SDRF, and volunteers of Civil QRT visited the area and started shifting affected families to safer places.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Basheer-ul-Haq Choudary posted on X: “Massive subsidence and sinking at km 5 on Ramban-Gool road. The road was blocked and all vehicles halted. Restoration work is underway for road connectivity and power supply affected by road sinking. Ramban-Gool road is currently blocked.”
