No stability anywhere in J&K: Omar Abdullah

Kupwara, May 8: National Conference (NC) Vice President  Omar Abdullah today said that the claims of normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir were far from reality. In fact there was no stability anywhere in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), rather devastation has added manifold.

While referring to the recent attacks and target killings in Rajouri, Poonch and Srinagar, Omar said that gun has revived in those areas which were made peaceful and terrorism free during his tenure as Chief Minister.

Omar was talking to media representatives after addressing an election rally in Kalaroos in  Kupwara.

Later while addressing another election rally at Hyhama, Kupwara, the NC leader said that this election was an important one so people have to be conscious while choosing their representatives. People can send a strong message through their vote to New Delhi as well as to the whole world., he added.

“We are entangled with severe circumstances from which we were once taken out by Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. We did not have the political and economic privileges. In fact we were not owners of land. We did not have jobs. Unemployment had made the lives of the people miserable but with the efforts of  Sher-e-Kashmir people enjoyed every right. He was the person who set up democracy here, later people were made economically independent by making them owners of land,” Omar said.

“We are being told that after the abrogation of Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed immense development but that development cannot be seen on ground. Not only the pathetic road conditions but the prolonged electricity cuts and hike in electricity tariff have made the life of common people miserable,” he added.

Taking a dig at the Peoples Conference, Omar said that people should be aware about their links with BJP. Pertinently Omar Abdullah along with other party leaders is camping in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district for the last three days.
