Reasi blind murder case solved; 4 held: Police

Jammu, May 5: Police Sunday stated to have solved a blind murder case with the arrest of four persons in Chassana in Reasi district.

A police spokesperson said, “On December 9, 2023, information was received at Police Station Chassana that the body of one Muhammad Rafiq, son of Mahamdu, resident of Jia Baggo Dass village was found in suspicious circumstances in his village. On this information, inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC vide DDR No 4 were initiated at Police Station Chassana and inquiry was taken up.”

   

During the course of inquiry, it was observed that the deceased had been killed by some unknown persons. Upon this, an instant inquest was converted and accordingly a formal case FIR No. 08/2024 U/S 302, 120 B IPC was registered at Police Station Chassana.

“Investigation was taken up by Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao, SHO Chassana. During the course of investigation some suspects were rounded up and after strenuous efforts and with the help of technical assistance, it came to the fore that during the intervening night of December 8 and 9, 2023, four persons namely Nazir Ahmed, son of Ruslla; Shabir Ahmed, son of Muhammad Abdullah; Nazir Ahmed, son of Abdullah and Farooq Ahmed, son of Bashir Ahmed, all residents of Jia Baggo Dass met together at the house of Nazir Ahmed, son of Ruslla and hatched a criminal conspiracy against the deceased,” spokesperson said.

“They assaulted Rafiq (deceased) with a stick on his head, resulting in an on-spot death of the deceased. Thereafter, all the accused persons took away the body and dumped it about 500 metre away, from the place of crime, along a road. As investigation progressed, all the four accused were arrested and on their disclosure, the weapon of offence was also recovered,” he added.

SSP Reasi Mohita Sharma, in an official statement, said, “Such a barbaric act, done by criminals, is rarest of the rare and such criminals are a black spot on our social fabric. The investigation shall incorporate each and every evidence to ensure justice is ensured in this heinous act.”
