Srinagar, Nov 9: Three Lashkar-e-Toiba militants and a soldier were among five people killed in the state since Wednesday night, police and reports said Thursday.
Police said two LeT militants identified as Ashiq Hussain son of Abdul Qayoom and Shabir Ahmed son of Muhammad Shaban Wani were killed in a fierce gunfight with the troops at Tanta Draman, Gandoh in Doda last night.
In Doda again, another LeT militant identified as Gul Nawaz alias Hamza son of Ghulam Muhammad was killed in an encounter with the soldiers at Kunthal Gandoh, police said.
Police said unidentified gunmen intruded into the house of Gulzar Hussain at Pangai Thanamandi in Jammu's Rajouri district last night and resorted to indiscriminate firing killing Hussain's son Muhammad Amin on the spot and injuring his neighbour Faiz Hussain.
Hussain was working as a constable with Army's Rashtriya Rifles and had come home on leave. No group has claimed responsibility for the killing.
Police recovered body of a woman from Qazigund in south Kashmir's Islamabad district on Thursday.
Gunmen shot at and injured a civilian identified as Tariq Ahmed Wani son of Muhammad Maqbool at Wani Doorsa Sogam in frontier district of Kupwara on Thursday. He was rushed to a hospital, police said.
Reports said that gunmen fired on the car of a Congress activist Ashfaq Ahmed near Pampore on Srinagar-Jammu highway on Wednesday evening. However Ashfaq escaped unhurt in the attack.
