Handwara, Oct 9: Just months after the shocking incident of rape and murder of innocent Tabinda Gani here, another gory act was committed by perpetrators who raped an eight-year-old girl and then murdered her.
Gulshana Akhtar (8) daughter of Bashir Ahmad Jathla of Pathri Sangdan Bard Hari was found dead in Suna Nad forest in Kupwara district on Tuesday morning.
According to her father Bashir, the girl was missing from September 1.
"She had went to call back cattle from the nearby fields, but when she didn't return home we lodged a missing report in police station of Trehgam Kralpora," said Bashir in a state of shock.
"It was on Monday morning when some women who had gone to collect the firewood from the forest informed us that Gulshana's body was lying in a near in the forest some 2 kilometers from here," Bashir said.
Police later recovered the semi-naked body of Gulshana, which was lying in a pool of blood. Police said the post-mortem of the body revealed that the girl was raped before her death.
A case has been registered with FIR no.145/2007 under sections 364, 302 RPC and police has started the investigations to nab the culprits.
Soon after the news of Gulshana's rape and subsequent murder reached Sangdan village, the people gathered at her residence. Frenzy scenes were witnessed in the area as women were wailing and screaming at the village. They were demanding immediate police action in the case.
This is the third case of this kind in the last few months. Few months before 10 year old Tabinda Nabi of Handwara and Sabrina Fayaz, 9 of Jawahar Nagar were also raped before their murder.
