Major problem being faced by many consumers of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation is the non registration of the erstwhile consumers of J&K State Consumers Federation (CONFED). In 1970s and 80s, the HPCL LPG was distributed in the Srinagar through Confed as it had been the only big HPCL gas service provider in the valley. However, it was shut by the State government in 1990, leaving the HPCL consumers high and dry. Till date the CONFED consumers used to get the gas refills through the point service of other gas agencies. The gas agencies have now stopped providing the gas through point services and the CONFED consumers are denied gas by the agencies as their documents are not accepted by the gas agencies in the valley. There must be more than ten thousand Confed consumers in the valley. We are left with no other alternative for arranging the fuel for the hearth. Concerned authorities should heed to the genuine problems being faced by the CONFED consumers of HPCL gas service.
