I was greatly impressed by the tribute you paid to Steve Irwin popularly known as "Crocodile Hunter". Steve was indeed a conservationist par excellence who commanded respect the world over for his passion to protect wild life. He was a great protagonist who helped create awareness among the masses for the need to protect our environment and wild life. I wish we had someone like Steve amongst us dedicated to protect our wildlife and environment for posterity. We sadly do not seem to understand the importance of conserving our environment and wild life. Our forest cover is depleting fast with indiscriminate felling of trees and encroachment upon forest land, which has spelled doom for wild life. Many species of wild life have already become extinct. With forest cover gone, our rich flora and fauna and wild life will soon become extinct. We are unmindful of damage we are causing to our natural resources which God Almighty has bestowed upon us in abundance. A glaring example is the Dal and despite efforts by the High Court to save it, this gift of Nature is doomed to die unless there is a mass movement meant for its protection particularly from these who inhabit the Dal and who have been eking out a living of it.
