Srinagar: Buoyed by the success of talent show Milay Sur, Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar is all set to revive the aura with the auditions for Milay Sur series II to be telecast from next week on Kashir channel every Friday-Saturday at 7.30 pm.
"After receiving huge response from the viewers, we decided to re-start the programme on public demand. The show will feature inter-district contests and the winners of the grand finale will be awarded," said Director DDK, Dr Rafeeq Masoodi.
He said that efforts are being made to rope-in big business houses for sponsoring the event, the jury of which would include Waheed Jeelani, Kaiser Nizami, Rehmat-ul-lah Khan and faculty from institute of fine arts.
He said the new series would have special emphasis on Kashmiri language as knowledge of the language and its music has been made mandatory for the participants.
The programme in-charge Kousar Parveen said "We have received more than 500 applications out of which 332 were invited for the auditions. From these 332 participants 154 have been short listed for the preliminary round Sur-Taal where the participants would be asked to perform on harmonium and Tabla."
