The recent bold write-ups by Dr Shiekh Showkat and then Er. S. Rashid published in your daily should not be downplayed.
By providing space to such 'extreme' opinions, you are doing real service to this nation. We have to listen to the differing viewpoints without mud-slinging. No writer has the right to malign the private life of leaders. However, we have every right to debate their public life as the leaders themselves represent 'institutions'. Highlighting the merits and/or demerits of these 'institutions' will cut them to their size, and make them to succumb to the public sentiments. If we can talk informally in our private circles, why shy away from debating the 'truth', although spatiotemporally subjective, in the public forums. O One of the indicators of the real tragedy for a nation is when the intellectuals espouse the run-of-the-mill discourses. Please give a break to some predictable and stale viewpoints and encourage fresh debates like this.
