Srinagar, Nov 9: Jammu Kashmir Democratic Liberation Party (DLP) chairman Hashim Qureshi has asked government to take stringent action against land grabbers without any delay.
Addressing a meeting of party workers and office-bearers of district Srinagar, Hashim said the DLP had raised its voice against all the people including politicians and land mafia groups who had illegally and unlawfully occupied custodian and nazool land or grazing land in the state. "On the one hand, a large number of people of state, from Lakhanpur to Ladakh, do not have a small piece of land to construct two-room houses, on the other, some influential people have illegally and unlawfully grabbed lakhs of Kanals of land," he said, demanding lawful action against all the land thieves and mafia groups in the larger interest of general public.
Hailing steps taken by the chief minister on this count, Hashim said, "I fail to understand what the chief minister is waiting for to implement these steps when he has the state machinery and power in hand."
Hashim has also urged the government to take effective steps to save Dal Lake, Wullar Lake and other water resources from dying away.
