At a time when every one says that they are shocked with the refusal of Services team to play a cricket match in Kashmir, the news fascinated me. It is for the first time in last decade that India Army itself declared and accepted that ground situation in Kashmir is not the way as Government of India portrays it in India and elsewhere. Giving long speeches in public rallies in other parts of India about Kashmir does not mean that the situation in Kashmir is better and of course every Kashmiri knows it. Contradictory statements by High profile people in Indian administration about Kashmir is nothing new. I don't not understand the simple logic why are people of Kashmir shocked with such a news, obviously it is true and I appreciate Services to give such a bold statement when Indian Political leaders are trying to misguide the common people of India about Kashmiri situation. Government of India on one side, debars Kashmiri people from basic needs by banning pre-paid cellular services due to security reasons and on the other side say that situation is normal, conductive for dialogue in Kashmiri. Both things can't go hand in hand. At least this was a courageous attempt by Services on their part to accept such a true but harsh fact about Kashmir that the dispute is still on and needs international attention as India has failed to stabilize the Kashmiri region. It is high time for Indian leadership to realize that the issue should be resolved through dialogue between all the shades of opinions, but not by quiet diplomacy as history is testimony to the fact that the present Kashmir conflict is a result of quiet diplomacy in 1953 between Nehru and Sheikh.
