SRINAGAR, NOV 9: To stop the chairman of Peoples Conference, Sajad Gani Lone, from holding long marches against the elections in north Kashmir, authorities have placed him under house arrest.
In a statement, the PC spokesman termed Lone's house arrest as "motivated and governed by the unholy desire of preventing him from holding series of long marches."
Sajad continues to be under house arrest for the fourth consecutive day on Sunday.
"Some Delhi- based journalists were prevented from meeting Sajad Lone and asked to seek special permission from the SSP. The crackdown against PC workers across the Valley continues unabated and the police tore down all the posters in the areas where the march is scheduled. We will hold the march and people will reach the venue irrespective of the curbs imposed by the state authorities," the statement said.
