Sheru has a nice friend. Unfortunately somebody delivered a lecture on sanam ashnai to him a few weeks ago. He was impressed much to the disappointment of Sheru and in the process of knowing more and more about his sanam, he lost his nerves. Sheru is worried for him. Allah rehman karay, the person he thinks about and talks of very often turned out to be a Pathar Ka Sanam and did not heed his poetic advances.
Little does Sheru's friend know that gone are the days when Bekhudi main uthay huway kadam would take one close to his Sanam. The moment he approached the Sang Dil sanam he managed a few words. "Laagi Chutay na ab to sanam." The song though beautiful sung by Rafi proved too outdated for the modern sanam. However, the Sheru's Sanam Ashna friend did not lose heart. He tried, "Agar dilbar ki ruswai humay manzoor ho jayay, sanam to bewafa kay nam say mushoor ho jayay." This fell on deaf ears as well. Kitnay bhi to kar lay sitam, hus hus kay suhay gain hum, ye pyaar na hoga kum, sanam teri kasam. This is terible. When a sanam ashna swears by his sanam, nobody on earth can save him. He has to live up to the kasam. There is no going back.
What shall one do when "O meray sanam, O meray sanam, do jism magar ek jan hain hum goes in vain?" Sheru's desperate friend has left no stone unturned to create some room in the Pathar kay sanam's heart but there seems no immediate end to his woes. Good God! This is why believers have been told to stay away from sanams. The energy, emotions and resources he has exhausted to impress the bewafa sanam would have taken him on top of the world had he utilized them properly and in the right direction. Any way every person has a right to live his life in a way he chooses. When a person is determined to commit suicide nobody can save him.
One day Sheru decided to have a look at the sanam who has been ruthlessly ignoring his pujari. The sanam was alright but Sheru was not impressed. Why? Sheru does not know. Sheru told his friend to mend his ways. But, he did not agree. Instead he made Sheru remind him the following song. "Tum bin jawoon kahan, kim duniya main aa kay kuch na phir chaha sanam tum ko chah kay." The Dukhi story does not end here. He said, "One day I heard her sing main hoon apnay sanam ki bahoon main, meray kadmoon talay zamana hai." This is what created galat fehmi and Sheru's friend lost his nerve.
Sheru's friend has been behaving like polythene. It can not be destroyed by any physical or chemical means although it can be created in huge quantities. Similarly, Sheru's friend is not ready to throw the sanam out of his heart come what may.
One day Sheru decided to take his friend to the mosque. "Come on, let us go to the mosque. Khuda ashnai is better than sanam ashnai and will take you out of depression", Sheru requested him. The answer stunned Sheru. "Mera dil to hai sanam ashna, mujay kya milay ga nimaaz main", he replied.
