Bandipora, Dec 22: The people of Bandipore held massive demonstration in the town on Tuesday against the alleged inflated power bills.
The vehicular movement remained affected for hours as people shouted slogans against the Power Development Department.
The protestors told Greater Kashmir that the PDD was allegedly furnishing inflated power bills, which had become a routine. "The amount I paid in September was again shown as opening balance for November power bill," said Ghulam Muhammad Kumar of Aajar.
Another resident, Muhammad Yousuf said he had paid Rs 1584 as power bill for the month of October and now again for November, he was asked to pay Rs 1784. "When I use only five electric bulbs, how can I receive such a huge bill," he asked.
After the intervention of additional development commissioner, Bashir Ahmad Bhat the protesters and the PDD officials sorted out the issue. He also directed the PDD to establish counters at his office for two days for clearing the doubts about the power bills.
