Farooq Shah calls for collective efforts to address vulnerabilities of women, children

Secretary Disaster Management, Rescue, Relief & Rehabilitation (DMRRR), PHE and I&FC, Farooq Ahmad Shah,Friday stressed on the need for collective efforts to address vulnerabilities of women and children during disasters. 

Speaking at ongoing three-day state level workshop, ‘Consultation on child-centered emergency preparedness’, he laid stress on collective action of administration, NGOs and other stakeholders to implement child and women safety measures in general and during the time of disaster in particular.

   

He appreciated the enthusiasm of the participants and encouraged them to take advantage of the opportunities. He also explained the vision of DMRRR and the importance of conducting such workshops to groom officials.

While sharing his experience with the participants, Secretary emphasized on keeping the passion alive despite the challenges and hardships to achieve the betterment of the vulnerable part of society especially women, children and other vulnerable groups.

The workshop has been organized by J&K SDMA in collaboration with DMA Jammu, NDMA and UNICEF.
