Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) on Tuesday condemned the ‘atrocities’ inflicted on civilian population of 18 villages of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district during cordon and search operations (CASO), killing a civilian Fayaz Ahmad Wani and injuring several others besides arresting many youth.
“The forces on the pretext of the presence of militants launched crackdown on civilian population in Pulwama, brutalizing young and old, men and women besides vandalizing the properties. From 14 year old kids to 85 year old people were thrashed by the men in uniform. Even the womenfolk were not spared. The forces used live ammunition and pellets on the civilians, injuring dozens of them. Fayaz Ahmad, the civilian who was hit by a bullet in his head was coming out of his home when he was shot at. It is a cold blooded murder,” the DeM spokesperson Rifat Fatima, in a statement today, said.
She said, “The forces have launched an all out war against the civilian population of Jammu and Kashmir and they are being targeted by bullets, pellets and other shells.”
Condemning the arrest of Kashmir Narrator assistant editor, Asif Sultan, Fatima said, “The state is not even allowing the media to work freely.”
