Cabinet meeting today

The state cabinet would meet here on Thursday to take a final call on introduction of several bills during the ongoing budget session.

According to sources, the cabinet would meet at 3 p.m. to approve a bill for amending the 4th schedule of J&K Constitution to increase the salary of Chief Justice and Judges of J&K High Court. The revision would come into effect from 01.01.2016.

   

The  move comes close on the heels of Government of India enhancing salaries of judges of other High Courts and Supreme Court.

The sources said that the cabinet would also approve a bill mooted by Social Welfare department for reservation for under-privileged sections of the society and Pahari-speaking people.

The cabinet, according to sources, would also give nod for promotion of deputy inspector general (DIG) of police south Kashmir range SP Pani, DIG central Kashmir range Ghulam Hassan Bhat and DIG Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range Basanth Kumar Rath as IGPs.

On October 23, the CS-led selection panel had recommended the promotion of these officers.

Sources did not rule out transfers at different levels in the civil administration. “There is also a possibility of transfers in police,” the sources said.
