Lolab residents demand college

Srinagar: The residents of Lalpora Lolab Wednesday demonstration at Press Colony and demanded establishment of a Degree College in the area.
 The protesters said the Tehsil was with out a college, and hundreds of students were facing hardships in pursuing higher studies. The protestors also demanded the upgradation of the high schools to the higher secondary schools. The villagers said that PHE, R&B and electric subdivisions should be set up in the area as soon as possible.

6 structures demolished in Dal
Srinagar: Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) demolished six illegal structures in Dal Lake on Wednesday. Acting on Court orders, the LAWDA’s demolition squad demolished the structures near Nehru Park. LAWDA officials said the structures were constructed in violation of the High Court orders. They said two members of the demolition squad were wounded in a scuffle with some inhabitants of the Lake.  The demolition drive was personally monitored by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Mehboob Iqbal and vice-chairperson LAWDA Mir Naseem.

KUSU hails Prof Punjabi’s appointment as VC
Srinagar: Kashmir University Students Union (KUSU) Wednesday hailed the appointment of Prof Punjabi’s appointment as new vice chancellor of Kashmir University. In a statement KUSU president said they are optimistic that Prof Punjabi will work for the welfare of the University. He said students of the varsity hope that Prof Punjabi will resolve the issues confronting the students. KUSU has also extended farewell to out-going VC, Prof Abdul Wahid. (GKNN)
