Kargil, Jan 23: Majlis Chaharum of martyrs of Karbala was held here on Wednesday with thousands participating in the congregation addressed by President Islamia School Kargil Sheikh Ahmad Muhammadi. In his address, he highlighted the events that lead to the martyrdom in Karbala. Condemning the police action against mourners in valley, he called for amity among Ummah. He thanked Greater Kashmir and Kashmir Uzma on behalf of people for highlighting the problems faced by residents of Kargil.
10 Hujaj died during Hajj-2008
Srinagar: As many as 10 Hujaj-i-Kiram died in Holy cities of Makkah and Madina during the Hajj-2008, due to cardiac and respiratory arrests. Among the dead 4 were females. The dead include Khadeja, Raja Begum, Rahti Bano, Sara Bano, late Hyder Ali Koushi, late Ali Muhammad Ganai, late Munshi Khan, late Ghulam Muhammad Ganai, late Ali Muhammad Bhat and late Ghulam Ahmad Mir.
Awareness camp on bird flu
Srinagar: The Block Veterinary Centre of Animal Husbandry department organized an awareness camp in Zewan, Srinagar Wednesday in which sizeable number of local farmers participated. The camp was organized to aware the public about various ailment afflicting cattle and poultry birds including Bird flu. Veterinary experts including Dr. F.A. Kaloo, Dr. N.D. A. Reshi, Dr. Sheikh Salim, Dr. Ghias-ud-Din, Dr. M.S. Sharma, Dr. G.M. Rather and Dr. Ghulam Rasool Mir discussed in detail the causes and prevention of the ailments. On the occasion, free literature and medicines were distributed among the participants.
Malik is CMO Srinagar
Srinagar: Shakeel Ahmad Malik Wednesday took over as the Chief Medical Officer, Srinagar replacing Mehraj-u-din. Malik was previously in charge of the administrative department at SMHS hospital Srinagar. Meanwhile, the employees of CMO office have welcomed Malik for taking charge of the CMO.
12th class student missing
Srinagar: A 12th class student Idrees Ahmad Bakaal disappeared while he was on the way of his tuitions. According to local news agency KNS Idrees Ahmad son of Khursheed Ahmad of Mir Mohalla Malaratta had left for tuitions on January 21 and didn’t return back. His family has lodged missing report.
Lok Adalat at Budgam on Feb 5
Budgam: A mega Lok Adalat is being held in the Court of Principal District Session Judge, Budgam on February 5, 2008. All the interested persons who have their cases, particularly, case of motor accident claim pending in any court of the District and interested to settle these cases in the said Lok Adalat amicably.
