Police on Wednesday claimed they arrested a suspected militant at a checkpoint in Hadipora Rafiabad on the outskirts of Sopore.
A police statement said a local militant who had joined Lashkar-e-Toiba was held during naka checking at Baramulla-Handwara road near Hadipora crossing.
The captured militant was identified as Amir Sultan War, son of Mohammad Sultan War from Naidkhai Sumbal Bandipora.
Amir was recently seen in a video clip, which went viral on social media, warning people against participating in the upcoming civic polls.
Police have taken up an investigation into the matter after a case was registered at Police Station Dangiwacha.
