3-day consultative workshop on innovation, entrepreneurship education begins at JKEDI

A three-day consultative meeting on entrepreneurship education titled ‘Innovation and Entrepreneurship Monograph’ began at Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), Pampore on Friday.

The initiative has been a part of recently approved J&KStartup Policy, a spokesperson of the institute said. The basic purpose of theconsultative meet is to give impetus to the concepts of innovation and entrepreneurshipat grass root level and design a monograph for the students at school, collegeand university level, after taking inputs from subject experts as well as thepeople working in the field.

   

JKEDI has invited subject experts of national repute includingProf HP Singh, Director Cluster Innovation Centre, University of Delhi, SujitBhattacharya, Principal Scientist at NISTADS (National Institute of Science& Technology and Development Studies), Prof Bhaduri, a developmenteconomist and professor at JNU, New Delhi, Dr Manish, teaching EnvironmentalEconomics at TERI, subject experts from NCERT, Dr. Abhay Kumar and Dr. KarenkKoireng, Dr. Sujit, Principal Scientist faculty members from University ofKashmir, NIT Srinagar, IUST Awantipora for their inputs and consultation. Notedbroadcaster, Syed Humayun Qaiser, some local innovators and JKEDI faculty werealso present on the occasion.

Director JKEDI, Tufail Mattoo in his welcome address urgedthe participants to deliberate on the broad contours of innovation andentrepreneurship so that an appropriate course of action is designed by theinstitute in due course of time.

The experts from various educational and technicalinstitutions presented their points of view as to how a monograph on innovationand entrepreneurship can be prepared and what shall it be based on. Theystressed on the need to explore relevant pathways for innovation anentrepreneurship, mass awareness, changing the mindset especially those of theparents, consideration of backward & forward linkages etc., before comingup with a monograph on the subject. 

On the occasion representatives from NCERT, New Delhiexpressed their willingness to partner for developing the text/course oninnovation and entrepreneurship. 

The consultative meet shall continue to deliberate over thenext two days and seek inputs from the participants to prepare a comprehensivedocument which shall later help in preparing the desired output-monograph.
