The then Chief Minister had directed the employment department to framing guidelines for its implementation.
Self-help group of engineers today threatened to take to roads in case the authorities failed to approve the guidelines already framed in their behalf.
The group while seeking personal intervention of Governor N N Vohra in this issue, appealed Chief Secretary, Commissioner Secretary Employment and Director Employment J&K to approve the guidelines and “save the livelihood of the unemployed engineers.”
President, All J&K Self Help Group of Engineers Association, Syed Parvez Safvi said that while reviving the status of Self Help Group of Engineers Scheme on 04-08-2011, the then Chief Minister had directed the employment department to framing guidelines for its implementation.
“Following this, during a meeting on 10-03-2012, the association had raised this issue with the then Labour & Employment Minister and urged him to frame the guidelines,” he said, adding that the Minister had instructed the Director Employment to frame draft guidelines and submit them to the administrative department for approval.
He said the draft guidelines were finally framed and were sent to the administrative department for approval on 11-04-2012.
He said thereafter the guidelines did not see the light of the day.
He said even the High Court had passed orders to the government on 08-05-2014 to issue the guidelines within 4 weeks. “Still the government is not serious to issue the guidelines,” he said.
He appealed the Governor to intervene in the issue and direct the authorities to approve the guidelines at the earliest.
