5000 HD apple trees planted in Budgam nursery

Director Horticulture Kashmir Ajaz Ahmad Bhat Saturday held an extensive tour of district Budgam to review the progress of various central and state sponsored schemes.

According to a statement, director along with chiefhorticulture officer, Budgam and other field officers of the departmentinspected departmental nursery Gopalpora and took stock of developmentalactivities and other civil works.

   

Director Horticulture was apprised that 5000 root stock hasbeen planted in the nursery of M-9 variety in the district. Instructions weregiven for completion of spill over works as well as other developmental worksin the nursery.

He also visited fruit plant nursery Footlipora and directedthe staff to work with zeal. The nursery is producing apple especiallyLal-Ambri , Pears and other quality varieties. Director also advised thenursery staff to top work the root stock with recently introduced varietieslike Red Chief, Super chief, Galamast, Stark crimson.

Later on he visited various horticulture development officesviz Chadoora, Nagam, Pakherpora and found horticulture development officerNagam,Chadoora unauthorized absent from duty and was placed under suspension.Instructions were also issued to Chief Horticulture officer, Budgam for takingaction against field staff for not attending the duties.

The director directed the officials to maintain closeliaison with the growers/orchardists so that they get the timely technicalknowhow about benefits of the schemes under implementation with the department.
