7-day Ladakh Ecotourism Guides Training concludes in Kargil

With an aim to promote and preserve rich cultural heritage of Kargil and create jobs for women and youth of the Ladakh region, a seven-day programme ‘Ladakh Ecotourism Guides Training’ was held at Mulbeck, Kargil.

The training, which concluded on Friday at Buddhist StudyCentre, Mulbeck, was first ever such programme for the women and youth of theLadakh division. The programme was supported by the GKL Foundation, Koreathrough Hanuran Movement Inc, Korea with Wakha Community, Mulbeck.

   

During the programme, 48 participating students receivedtraining in history of Ladakh for Tour Guides, Eco-Tourism for Kargil, Ladakhregion. The participants were also given training in handling high altitudesickness and first aid.

At the valedictory function, Nazir Hussain, deputysecretary, J&K Cultural Academy Kargil was the chief guest while as AgaSayed Jamal, District Social Welfare Officer Kargil Ladakh was the guest ofhonour.

Stressing on the fact that Ladakh is a fragile ecosystem,Nazir said the people of the region need to maintain the ecological balance andkeep the region clean from pollution. He also said that attention towardsecotourism is must as it has a potential for more yields without disturbing theecosystem.
