Certification distribution for trainees of fruit, vegetable preservation held

Horticulture Department on Saturday held certificate distribution ceremony and awareness programme for the candidates of fruit and vegetable preservation training course.

The trainees have completed six month training held by theChief Canning  Officer, Kashmir, Gul  Sayed at Lal Mandi.

   

Director Horticulture Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, who was the chiefguest at the occasion, distributed the certificates.

He advised the trainees for establishing their ownpreservation units to generate their source of income and livelihood. He saidfood processing has vast scope in Kashmir given the availability of fruit andvegetables in Kashmir. 

He also emphasised for conducting more such trainingprogrammes even of shorter duration to attract more unemployed youth towardsthe food processing sector.

During the deliberations the director horticulture wasapprised for benefits of the processing of fruits and vegetables in creation ofemployment opportunities for the unemployed youth  by establishing  micro processing units in remote areas ofKashmir division.

Chief Canning Officer advised the trainees to take benefitsof the centrally sponsored scheme for establishing their own units forprocessing of fruit and vegetables which are locally available  to create employment opportunities.
