Several cloudbursts on Saturday damaged agriculture and horticulture crops in three villages of Bandipora district.
Locals said that a cloudburst hit Hudbal locality of Ahamsharief resulting in flash floods in a nearby stream which damaged crops in the locality.
Flash floods caused by a cloudburst inundated several residential houses and also damaged horticulture and agriculture crops in the area. A footbridge was also washed away by the flash floods, the locals said.
Reports also said that a cloudburst caused flash floods in Arin village which inundated houses and link roads.
The reports also said that flash floods in Vij Nallah in Athwatoo village also damaged agriculture and horticulture crops.
Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza in a tweet said that a cloudburst hit Ahamsharief, resulting in flash floods causing damage to houses, agriculture and horticulture crops.
“Officers with men and machinery (are) on the job. Relief material also being dispatched. On a minor scale, a cloudburst also occurred at Arin. Teams have reached there also,” he said.
Meanwhile, former legislator Nizamuddin Bhat urged the Governor administration to provide relief to the affected people of Arin, Ahamsharief, and Athwatoo on a war footing.
