The members of Kashmir Hotels and Restaurant Coordination Committed (KHARCC) have decried reports that hotels in Kashmir may be requisitioned for creating isolated accommodation for coronavirus suspects.
In a statement, Tariq Mushtaq Mir convener KHARCC said “The report has sent shock waves across the industry as on one hand the government is trying its hardest across India to increase tourist inflow to Kashmir but on the other hand such rumours are floated for unknown reasons.”
“Even certain officers have conduct surveys in this behalf. The members of KHARCC maintain that this shall send negative signal to the intending tourists which will force them to cancel their trips to Kashmir. This is bad publicity for Kashmir tourism. Government certainly has means to create such facilities at isolated places in Kashmir and not target the tourism industry,” the statement said.
