Deadlock on LoC trade continues

However despite our repeated attempts we didn’t get any response from them (Pak officials).

For the fifth consecutive day today the intra-Kashmir trade on Salamabad-Chakoti route remained suspended as the officials here said the PaK authorities “didn’t respond to our repeated calls.”

On Monday at a meeting with them, the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Talat Pervaiz had been assured by the PaK officials that they would respond today on the demand of return of Kashmir-based drivers.

“However despite our repeated attempts we didn’t get any response from them (Pak officials),” Pervaiz said, adding that the trade consequently remained affected.

“Pak authorities may be investigating the matter from their end as yesterday they took evidence from us and assured that they would take action against the culprits found involved in defaming the cross-LoC trade,” he said.

Local administration here said they were ready to allow 21 PaK-based drivers to go back, but PaK-administration has detained “our 50 truckers demanding all 22 drivers including arrested driver be allowed to return.”
