Director Horticulture reviews development schemes in Kargil

Director Horticulture, Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat Thursday took a review meeting of developmental schemes of the department at Kargil.

According to a statement, the Chief Horticulture Officer,Kargil, District Horticulture Officer Kargil and other field functionariesattended the meeting. Director Horticulture reviewed the various ongoingdevelopmental schemes/projects in District Kargil and discussed each and everycomponent of both centrally and State sponsored schemes in terms of physicaland financial achievements made. He stressed upon the officers for completionof earmarked works/projects within stipulated time frame for the benefits offarmers/growers.

   

Director Horticulture took stock of various nurseries andsolar driers. He passed instructions that multi-pronged strategy needs to beadopted for ensuring better yield, brand building and marketing of the produceacross the State.

Director Horticulture also visited various sites andinspected the pack houses, poly green houses, plantation etc at Kargil ChaniGund and interacted with the growers there. The growers appraised the Directorabout various issues pertaining to their business and demanded drip system andplant protection machinery for fruit plants especially for Apricot. DirectorHorticulture ensured them every possible support. Regarding Codling Moth onApricots outside Ladakh region, Director Horticulture desired that anexpertcommittee shall be farmed at Directorate level who will suggest measures foreffective marketing of Apricot outside/inside State as well as other issuesrelated to the sector.

Director Horticulture also visited various Apple HighDensity as well as medium density orchards and discussed various issues relatedto it and said that Department is committed to achieve the objective to enhancethe production and productivity of quality fruit crops in the State.
