Taking note of skyrocketing prices of essential commodities during the month of Ramadhan, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan on Friday directed for strict action against the profiteers and black marketers, particularly those selling meat on exorbitant rates.
According to an official spokesperson, the divisionalcommissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan on Friday directed the Food, CivilSupplies and Consumer Affairs (FCSCA) Department and the Legal MetrologyDepartment to start intense market checking across the city on daily basis andtake strict action against profiteers and black marketers who are selling meaton exorbitant rates.
He asked Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar and otherconcerned officers to send daily report to the divisional commissioner’s officewith details of market checking along with names of profiteers and blackmarketers and action taken against them.
The divisional commissioner made these directions whilereviewing the progress of market checking drive across the capital city.
The meeting was informed that FCSCA department has checked1330 establishments and shops in which they recovered Rs3.36lakh penaltybesides LMD booked 207 challans in which they recovered a fine of Rs 2.25 lakhfrom erring shopkeepers.
The divisional commissioner directed the officers to enforceall shopkeepers to display their rate list in their shops.
The meeting was further informed that with regards toredressal of grievances, people can log into department websites jkfcsca.gov.in,capdkashmir.nic.in and feastjk.gov.in/jkgrams.
