Within hours of his takeover, Director Tourism Farooq Ahmed Shah on Monday said the government was committed to revive tourism to its full bloom in the flood-ravaged Kashmir Valley.
Shah was speaking to the tourism stakeholders at a local restaurant here. The event was hosted by the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI). Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Rohit Kansal and the DDC Srinagar Farooq Ahmed Lone were present.
Shah said the issues related to tourism would be resolved on priority even as he sought support from the KCCI in accomplishing the mission.
KCCI President Shiekh Ashiq while hailing Shah for his contribution to the tourism industry, said the Kashmir business fraternity had pinned hopes on Shah and hoped that the latter would come up to their expectations.
President, Kashmir Economic Alliance, Showkat Chowdhary, said that return of Shah to tourism was a long pending demand of the stakeholders.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir said the administration would provide all possible support for revival of tourism to its optimum. KCCI senior vice president Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, businessman Parvez Ahmad and others were also present.
