Ganai reviews supply position of food grains, fuel in state

Advisor to the Governor, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai Thursday asked the FCSCA department and the oil marketing companies to issue directions for maintaining enough buffer stock of food grains and petroleum products in both Kashmir and Jammu divisions.

The advisor said this while chairing a meeting with theofficers of the FCSCA Department, Food Corporation of India and the representativesof Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum here,according to an official spokesperson.

   

The meeting was called to take firsthand appraisal of theto-date stock and supply position in the state.

During the meeting, the advisor said that in view of the improvement in weather conditions and opening of Jammu-Srinagar highway, the FCI must ensure that all trucks reach Srinagar in time so that there is no shortage of essential commodities in Kashmir division.

He was briefed by SRM FCI that adequate stocks at Mir Bazar, Qazigund and Lethpora granaries are available and with the arrival of additional truckloads, the supply position will be further replenished.

The shortfall during the month of February is being met and2000 MT of foodgrains are being supplied to the valley on a daily basis, themeeting was told.
