Gold rises in futures trade on global cues

Gold prices edged up by 0.68 per cent to Rs 33,526 per 10gram in futures trade Tuesday as speculators raised their bets, tracking a firmtrend overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold to be delivered in Aprilwas trading higher by Rs 226, or 0.68 per cent, at Rs 33,526 per 10 gram inbusiness turnover of 1,480 lots.

   

On similar lines, the metal for delivery in March contractswere trading higher by Rs 220, or 0.66 per cent, at Rs 33,379 per 10 gram in1,315 lots.

Analysts said widening of positions by participants amid abetter trend overseas influenced gold prices at futures trade.

Globally, gold rose 0.13 per cent to USD 1,329.80 an ouncein New York.
