Indian travellers should prefer Kashmir over Europe: Union Tourism Secy

After winding up his three-day tour to Kashmir on Saturday, Union Tourism Secretary Yogendra Tripathi urged the people of the country, who intend to go for holidays, to visit Kashmir instead of European countries.

He said Kashmir is one of the most beautiful places on Earthwhich every traveller should visit.

   

According to state Tourism Department statement, the UnionTourism Secretary arrived here on Thursday and visited Dal Lake, SKICC, ChrarChinari besides inspecteing houseboats on the first day.

On the second day on Friday, the Union Secretary Tourismvisited Gulmarg, Kangdori, Affarwat, Botapathri and also inaugurated adventurecourses at Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering. He also held a briefmeeting with the representatives of hoteliers at Hotel Khyber and assured themthat the Government of India is keen to promote J&K as the choicest touristdestination.

He said under various schemes, GoI has already released Rs450 crore for implemental of various sanctioned projects.

“As soon as the projects are complete, we will bereleasing more funds,” he said.

On the third day today, Yogendra Tripathi visited IndianInstitute of Hotel Management Srinagar where he chaired a meeting to review thecourses being offered and also the facilities for the students.

While stressing on introducing more short term courses atIHM Srinagar for local youth, Tripahti said there are immense opportunities inthe hospitality sector.

Principal IHM Srinagar informed him that most of the passouts from the institute have been placed at big hotel brands in the country andsome of them having the entrepreneurial abilities have set up their ownbusiness ventures like restaurants and baking units.
