International industry experts discuss skill development in J&K

A group of international industry experts held a three day programme in Srinagar to brainstorm different ideas and challenged for the skill development and entrepreneurship in Jammu and Kashmir.

The delegates on the third day of the programme held a discussion with the Advisor to the Governor, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai. 

   

According to an official spokesperson, the advisor appreciated the efforts of the visiting delegation and said the government is committed to give full support to startup ventures under different schemes launched by the state and central governments.

Among the delegates were Anthony Rushton, Chairman, Hong Kong Management Association, Declan Doogan, Head, Worldwide Development at Pfizer (USA), Nicola Gilchrist, Communications & Engagement Specialist, United Kingdom, Jim Walker, Co-Founder, Climate Group (USA), Jane Sassinie, Global Capability Director, BRIDGE, United Kingdom, Shashi Kumar Velath, Leader, Social Innovation for Ashoka India and Simon Mckenzie, Director BRIDGE, Asia Pacific, Singapore.

Besides government officers, skill training providers, entrepreneurs, and industry heads, the delegates also had a threadbare discussion with principal secretary industries and commerce Shalendra Kumar, secretary technical education Ajit Kumar Sahu, secretary agriculture and horticulture Manzoor Ahmad Lone and secretary floriculture Javed Ahmad Khan .

The three-day International Industry Collaboration Summit was organised by J&K Skill Development Mission, in collaboration with the BRIDGE Institute, in Srinagar.

The delegates said they have understood the challenges confronting skill development and opportunities in employment generation and promised to revert with a workable roadmap to scale up skill ventures in the state.

The delegates assured the advisor of their support in establishing linkages with leading corporate houses so as to enhance employability of skilled youth of the State.
