JCCI claims Kashmiris safer in Jammu than home

Denouncing Kashmir-based politicians and activists for deliberately trying to divide people of the state, Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry Monday claimed every Kashmiri felt safe in the winter capital.

“If somebody is saying that Kashmiris are not safe in Jammu then please tell us where they are secure. Jammu is the only place in entire country where people of Kashmir feel safer than home,” president of JCCI, Rakesh Gupta said while addressing a press conference here.

“If they (People of Kashmir) are not safe then thousands of Kashmir-based students would not come to the city for higher education, people from various parts of the state would not settle here and make it their own permanent home.”

Gupta added that allegation of some Kashmir-based politicians was a part of building wrong narratives and some vested interests in state always trying to demoralise nationalist and pace loving people of Jammu.

“There is a big conspiracy against people of Jammu. Many rumours are being spread on social media but it is responsibility of Kashmiris living here to convey to their counter parts back home that how safe they are in Jammu,” Gupta said.

He blamed the state administration for unnecessarily imposing curfew in Jammu and shielding the people who raised anti-national slogans.

“Jammu can’t tolerate anti-national elements. Administration should identify the culprits who raised anti-national slogans and put them behind bars without any further delay.”

Gupta also attacked the inefficiency of police cyber cell for their inaction against those using fake Id’s injecting venom on social media against India.

He appealed to the DGP to take effective measures against inefficient staff and replace them immediately.

Welcoming relaxation in curfew, the Jammu trade body appealed to Governor to lift the curfew from Tuesday.
