J&K Zamindar Bachaw Forum demands MSP, loan waiver

J&K Zamindar Bachaw Forum, an umbrella body of farmers on Friday demanded that loans of all farmers, especially the Kisan Credit Card should be waived off.

In a press conference held at a local hotel, spokesperson of the Forum also put forth a demand that minimum selling price ( MSP) for all crops should be announced in Jammu and Kashmir.

“This scheme is already implemented in states across India. MSP should be 50 percent more than investment cost,” the spokesperson said.

The Forum has also demanded that government institutions should be set-up in the state as “private mandies are exploiting the farmers in different ways and means as experienced by everyone here,” said a written statement issued by the Forum.

The statement also demanded that interest-free assistance should be provided for sometime so that farmers can recover the loss.”This would also ensure financial upliftment of the farmers,” the statement added.
