JKCL employees protest over pending salaries

Demanding release of pending salaries, employees of Jammu and Kashmir Cement Limited (JKCL) held a protest rally here on Thursday. Scores of employees demanding pending salaries and implementation of 7th pay commission sat on dharna while holding placards and raising slogans at Press Enclave. The employees holding placards raised slogans in favour of their demands which they said are pending from years now.

“We are in a miserable condition with no salaries from last five months, our other benefits like DA, 6th pay commission arrears are pending from last 10 years,” said Abdul Majeed, president of J&K Cements Employees Association. “We are struggling to meet the ends, it is unfortunate that despite deduction of monthly welfare funds, insurance funds, CP fund, not a single penny has been deposited in our accounts, let alone 7th pay commission, We are yet to receive 6thpay commission benefits from a decade now”, he said.

The employees said that they have been protesting from last six days but their demands are falling at deaf ears. “We are standing at a point where we cannot afford school expenditures of our kids, we appeal governor to look into the matter and address the issue swiftly”, “If this continues, our families along with our school going kids will hit streets and start an indefinite agitation”, said the group of employees.
