JKPCC workers appeal Governor

J&K ProjectConstruction Corporation Piece Workers (Sub-Contractors) Union on Fridayexpressed concern over dwindling works in the corporation which it said has puttheir career at stake.

“From the past fivemonths the corporation is not executing any kind of job with the resultexpenditures on account of various administrative overheads increase day by day,”said a statement issued by the union.

   

It said thecorporation was an engineering department but for last six months “only salaryof employees is being disbursed and execution works abandoned”.

“There are around 600regular employees and about 1200 daily wagers working in the corporation andabout 2000 piece workers. The liability of the piece workers is around Rs 40core,” said the statement.

It said future of theemployees and their families is at stake. “There is every apprehension that theposition of the corporation will become just like that of J&K Cements Ltd,”the statement said.

The workers, in thestatement, appealed to the Governor to intervene in the matter.
