KTA demands extension of amnesty scheme for pending sales tax arrears

President, Kashmir Trade Alliance, Aijaz Shahdhar has expressed dismay at what he called as the ‘Government’s discriminatory approach’ towards business fraternity.

The Alliance in a statement said, “it is a fact of common knowledge that the pandemic has put day to day business in grinding halt and dealers could not avail of amnesty up to ending 10/2020 besides could not file GSTR 3B and annual returns. It is reiterated with strong demand that the said amnesty already announced under Govt Order No 39-F of 2018 be extended up to ending June, 2021.and GST council be enjoined upon to waive off late fee for all pending returns. This will give a cushion to the fraternity in these hard times.”

Meanwhile, reacting to the indefinite wheel jam strike by the transport sector, he said that the government should resolve the issue with the transporters in a spirit of understanding so that the people do not face any hardship.
