KU’s Management Deptt holds one-day conference

A day long national conference on “Migration: Global and Local Perspective-Addressing complex crisis in the 21st century” was organized by Department of Management Studies, University of Kashmir on Wednesday.

A spokesperson of the Department said the conference waspart of an extra-mural project “Impact of Migration on Psycho-Social andEconomic Well-Being of Elderly…”awarded to young and dynamic faculty ofDepartment, Dr. Farzana Gulzar (Senior Asst. Professor) by Indian Council ofMedical Research.

   

“Migration is a complex phenomenon that touches onmultiple facets of the economic, social and security aspects affecting dailylives in an evolving interconnected world and therefore, needs muchattention,” Dr Farzana, who has a dedicated team of young researchscholars, including Aiman Fayaz, Dr. Bilal Ahmad, Shafiqa Gul and SheezanShafi, said.

 The team works onvarious psycho-social and economic issues faced by displaced populations. DrFarzana took the responsibility of working on this project so as to bring forthvarious issues related to migration.

“It is very important to understand migration and itsvarious manifestations to effectively address evolving migration dynamics,” shesaid.

The conference was attended by respected dignitariesincluding Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor- Central University of Jammu, Prof.Mushtaq Siddiqui, Vice Chancellor- Islamic University of Science &Technology, Prof. Mushtaq A Darzi, Head, Department of Management Studies,University of Kashmir, Professor Neelofar Khan, Head, Department of HomeScience, KU.

Also guests present at the event were Prof Nisar Ahmad Mir,Registrar, University of Kashmir, Prof M. Sanghmi, Dean Colleges, Prof Shabir ABhat, Director HRDC, Prof S. A. Mufeed, Dean, School of Business Studies, ProfShamim Ahmad Shah, Head, Department of Geography, besides other eminent facultymembers from various universities across India.
